Extended Violin

This pieces of music are composed for one or more acoustic and electric violins (live), synthesizer and realtime effects on computer with 2, 4 (or more) channel output.

The basic idea is a permanent „sound- morph“ from the acoustic sound of the violin to the manipulated violin sound out of the computer. The output signal changes between all channels/speakers, e. g. 1 speaker in each edge of the room, so that there is a permanent movement of the sound. Sometimes even every delay comes from another direction. The real, natural sound of the violin changes between amplified and „unplugged“. This is an experience from very close, „dry“, and natural sound to far away and unclear sound. Also is the original idea of „concertare“ in this pieces of music, a kind fight against and with the machine.

The violinist can change the effects, the volume of the effects and the amplification of the violin with a floorboard, in the extended version even the dynamic between the 4 channels. The midi patches for the synthesizer also can be started with a foot switch. The violinist also can create loops, which are repeated defined times, so the performer can play with himself but still manipulate the loops.
